Business Clarity & Control Diagnostic
When something in your business feels harder to manage than it should, the first challenge is often understanding what is actually going on.
The Business Clarity & Control Diagnostic is a £495 fixed-fee, onsite review built around the area, problem or question you need greater clarity about.
Rather than applying a standard checklist to the whole business, I focus the review on what you need to understand, what the evidence shows and what needs attention next.
What is the Business Clarity & Control Diagnostic?
The diagnostic starts with a simple question:
What do you need greater clarity about?
That might be why finance feels out of control, why cash is tight despite healthy sales, where work is getting stuck, why growth has made things harder, where ownership is unclear, or how problems in different parts of the business may be connected.
From there, I agree the focus with you and work out what I need to examine to answer that question properly. Then I spend a full seven-hour day onsite investigating the area(s) agreed.
This isn't simply about collecting information. It's about making sense of what I find so you come away with clearer answers to:
What is happening
Why might it be happening
What does it affect
What needs attention
What should happen next
A focused review, not a review of everything
The onsite day can be used to look deeply at one area, or more broadly across several connected areas, but there's always a trade-off between breadth and depth.
The aim is not to review every part of the business, but to spend the available time investigating what's most relevant to the question you want answered.
If something important appears outside the agreed focus, I won’t ignore it. I’ll flag it where relevant, but I won’t let it pull the purpose of the review off course.
The point is to leave you with a useful answer to your original question, not a superficial review of everything.
What you come away with
As well as a clear answer, the diagnostic needs to give you something useful and practical to work from.
Within 72 hours of the onsite review, you receive a Findings & Recommendations Report covering:
-
Answers to the question we agreed to investigate - supported by evidence gathered during the review
-
Key findings from the onsite visit - including what's working well and what needs attention
-
What appears to be driving the issue - including contributing factors or knock-on effects
-
Clear recommendations - focused on what needs to change
-
A prioritised action plan - what should happen next, what can wait, and where to focus first
If the evidence shows that something needs further investigation rather than a firm conclusion, I'll make that clear too.
The fixed fee also includes a 30-minute report walkthrough so I can explain the overall picture, talk through the findings and priorities, and answer reasonable questions about the report.
A cross-business view matters
My background spans Finance, Operations, Business Improvement, Change and the people involved in making all those things work well together.
That matters because the thing you are trying to understand may not sit neatly in the place where it first shows up.
A finance concern may be connected to an outdated process. A workflow issue may be affected by unclear ownership or underused systems. A change in one area may be unintentionally creating pressure somewhere else.
Because I work across those areas, I can follow the evidence without forcing the review to stay inside one departmental box.
And because my work is hands-on rather than purely advisory, the recommendations I make are grounded in what can practically be done in an SME, not what looks good in a textbook.
